Full steam ahead for Aberdeen Tattoo show

An Aberdeen tattoo convention is to go ahead after it was postponed due to Covid-19.

Organisers Reign In Blood have rescheduled the Aberdeen Tattoo show for April 2021. The convention is planned go ahead at the Beach Ballroom between the 10th and 11th of April. Supposed to take place in August, the show had to be postponed.

At present, the organisers at Reign in Blood are planning the event to go ahead with safety measures in place and hoping that they will not have to postpone again.

The event is sponsored by Barber DTS, organisers Reign in Blood and their clothing brand INK4U.

Parents do not despair, there is no need to miss out. There will be something for everyone and all the family at the show. From tattoos, piercings, tattoo competitions, to live music, children's entertainment and food and drink.

Reign in Blood's 'Ink4U' manager and convention organiser, Lisa Burnett says "We want it to be a family event, there will be kid's entertainment, clowns, in-door bungee stands and live bands every hour." Although, anyone under 18 years of age must come with an adult.

The organisers initially expected between 1000 and 2000 attendees but realise this may change due to restrictions related to Covid-19. There has not been a tattoo convention in Aberdeen since 2015. The large gap is reflected in the interest of Reign in Blood's event.

"There aren't many tattoo conventions that are close, and because it hasn't happened in so long, we thought it would pique peoples interest in tattooing and encourage people to get more. So we thought why not have a convention?

"There is such an interest in Aberdeen for tattooing and body modification, I just don't think it is talked about very often. I wish someone had done this earlier."

The interest for the tattoo show stretches far beyond the bounds of Aberdeen. Lisa tells us it goes well beyond Scotland. "We get messages from people all over the world, even France, Canada, America, its like wow. I did not expect that."

Lisa and everyone at Reign in Blood have high hopes that the convention will go ahead in April after being disappointed in August. "We were so ready and so prepared and it couldn't go ahead. On the day it was supposed to take place I was sitting at home, really sad thinking about it."

Tickets for the event are on sale and can be purchased from the Reign in Blood studio on Holborn Street or online at https://www.universe.com/events/aberdeen-tattoo-show-tickets-7LDP2N . Tickets will be sold right up until the dates of the show, but prices may vary.
